Valentina Restaurants were keen to open a new high class restaurant in Shad Thames, part of the historical Dickens Heritage area of London near Tower Bridge. The proposal included air conditioning units, condensers and ventilation plant on the roof. The restaurant is in close proximity to some very expensive luxury apartments, and the local authority had concerns over noise and disturbance, and potential loss of residential amenity.
Consequently the planning permission was only approved with strict conditions, regarding noise from the plant, to British Standards BS 4142, and BS 8233.
Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were commissioned by the owners, to undertake full noise surveys and make recommendations that would allow additional plant and coolers to be installed, and to meet the noise regulations. This project had a tight deadline to meet, to launch the new restaurant.
The noise survey was made at short notice, and our report with recommendations was issued within a week. The works were completed and the new Valentina Restaurant was ready. After receipt of our report, the conditions were subsequently cleared by the local authority, and the restaurant is now trading successfully in a popular part of Central London.

I wanted to thank you for the professional way you dealt with our
acoustic issue at the above. The survey was arranged very quickly and your report was issued within the agreed very tight timescale. Your report was concise and accurate and enabled the local Planning Department to sign off our proposed air conditioning units without further investigations. I would have no hesitation employing your company on the next scheme we have which requires specialist acoustic input.
