Battersea Dogs Home is well known in England as the oldest home for stray dogs and cares and looks after the animals until new owners can be found, as they arrange a visit for new owners to walk around the kennels to choose a new pet dog.

 

The dogs are taken out for walks each day and the kennels are cleaned out and the dogs are sometimes boisterous and noisy, especially at feeding time! The management were very concerned about the new Health and Safety Noise at Work Regulations, as this Government requirement applies to all workers where there is a possibility of noise levels at work exceeding specified levels and causing damage to the employee’s hearing.

 

Shaun Murkett Acoustic Consultants Ltd were commissioned to investigate and undertake a Noise at Work survey for all the staff and to issue an acoustic report with comprehensive recommendations to reduce noise levels, which would allow staff to work without breach of the legal regulations.

 

Our report successfully completed and issued to the Government Factory Inspectorate,  the staff were safely found to be within the regulation noise levels, and the organisation could continue to operate legally and safely.
